Bushcraft Show (Sunday 24th)

Today has been busy on the bushcraft education stand. We have been spreading the word about the Riddy Wood Project and I have delivered several Sami bracelet making workshops which have been very popular.

We have been delivering informal workshops on deer, their teeth, their antlers and the ecology throughout the day one of our particular areas of interest as far as deer are concerned is the strange species that is Chinese Water Deer (CWD) and we have been showing how to tell their age by looking at the roots of their teeth;

Above you can clearly see a toth from a mature CWD (top) and a much younger deer (below), the root seals over at between 18 months and two years of age.

It's the last day of the show tomorrow so if you haven't been to see us yet please pop in, we have a few more Sami bracelet kits to sell, some cartridge case cuff links, wooden mushrooms, woodland themed gifts and we would love to just talk about deer, wildlife, woodland management, bushcraft or anything outdoorsy.

We have enjoyed the show so far and hope, if you are here that you have too.

Geoff
